Community involvement is important to O’Flaherty. Last year he was vice president of the Rotary Club of Downers Grove and chairman of the business expo for the Rotary Grove Fest, the Downers Grove summer festival. This year he will serve a term on the chamber of commerce board. In 2014, he was on the board of AIM, the Center for Independent Living, a nonprofit organization that helps disabled people live on their own.
In this article, we will explain how to remove a child from the parent’s custody by reporting child abuse or neglect to the DCFS. We will answer the questions, What is the DCFS and how to file a report. We also examine and answer the questions, Who is required to report suspected child abuse as well as the penalties for failing to report child abuse or neglect.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is responsible for investigating reports of child abuse or neglect, working with families to implement plans to solve the root problems that cause abuse or neglect, and, if necessary, referring cases to the Illinois State’s Attorney’s office for the purpose of protecting the child.
