We believe your attorney should not speak in legalese

Finding an attorney who is a “real person” can be difficult. Many attorneys surround themselves almost exclusively with other attorneys and are accustomed to speaking in ivory tower legalese.  You should be able to connect with your attorney on a personal level, and he or she should speak to you in plain language that you can understand.  You will be working very closely with this person on issues that are very important to you. It is important that he or she be down-to-earth and someone that you connect with.

We believe your attorney should be accessible

The most common complaint that clients have of their attorneys is that the attorney is unreachable, does not communicate with them regularly, or does not promptly return your calls.  Your attorney should reach out to you about your case regularly and respond within 24 hours to calls and e-mails.  An open line of communication between you and your attorney is essential to building trust.

Learn how we service your area through our Remote Location Approach.

We believe your attorney should be realistic with you about costs and outcomes

Your attorney’s goal should not be to win at all costs.  Rather, it should be to achieve a favorable outcome for you as efficiently as possible.  It is important that your attorney set realistic expectations at the outset as to the costs you should expect, the concerns that the attorney has about the outcome of your case, and the length of time that you should expect your case to take.

Regardless of the nature of your case, we have an experienced attorney who will focus on your individual needs. Our team of attorneys works closely together, bringing each of their different fields of experience to bear in order to optimize our client care.

About Family Law Attorney in Kenosha:

Kenosha Family Law Services

Family law cases require a delicate touch that combines legal know how with an understanding of the personal chaos. Our team in Kenosha is committed to providing full service legal services for all family law matters. Hiring a divorce attorney or a child custody lawyer may seem like a daunting first step, but you can contact our law firm without fear or anxiety. From the initial consultation to the end of your case, we are here to help you with integrity and kindness.

Child Custody and Placement

Children are always the top priority in any family law case. Our approach is:

  • Custody arrangements that reflect what is best for the children, considering their physical, emotional, educational, and social needs. Mediation may be required.
  • Negotiating placement agreements that allow both parents to have a meaningful relationship with their children, including handling visitation.
  • When necessary, build a strong case for contested custody and placement to protect your child's best interests.

Financial support is a big part of family law that affects both party's lives. Our attorneys are experienced in:

  • Child support, including setting up initial orders and modifying existing ones.
  • Spousal maintenance to ensure fairness for both parties.
  • Negotiation and if necessary, litigation to get fair solutions that consider your financial situation and future.

At the end of the day, the best interests of your children are extremely important. Our lawyers have extensive experience at navigating family law cases while maintaining our commitment to the biggest priority. However, whether you are seeking sole custody or joint custody of your children, our divorce lawyers will know how to help you best.

Property Division

Dividing assets and debts in a divorce can be tricky. We focus on:

  • Fair division of property considering both party's contributions and future needs.
  • Managing marital asset disputes to get a fair outcome for you.

Negotiation and Litigation

While we prefer negotiation to minimize emotional and financial stress, our family law attorneys will represent you in court if necessary. Many family law issues require resolution in the courts, but our experience in hearings and trials allows us to handle contested cases well and get the best outcome for our clients.

A Real Story: Custody with Compassion

Read the story of “Anna” and “Michael” who were in a custody battle over their two children. Our Kenosha family law team intervened to mediate, putting the children first. Through various conversations and negotiations, we helped Anna and Michael understand co-parenting and mutual respect. We ended up with an agreement that put the children’s stability and happiness first. See the difference compassionate legal help can make in family law.

Benefits of a Comprehensive Law Firm

Our team of lawyers and paralegals have extensive experience handling the nuances of your legal matter but also consider how other areas of law might affect your case. We often consider angles that aren’t obvious to an attorney with experience in only one practice area.

A Team That Collaborates on Your Case

We’ve had many legal clients complain that their last firm just didn’t have the resources or understanding to manage their case. Our attorneys regularly communicate across the firm, getting input from several legal professionals without the additional cost.

Open Communication

No one wants to be sitting in the dark, unsure of what’s going on with their case. Part of our core practice model is to regularly update our clients on the status of their cases.

Contact our law firm today to schedule a consultation and get in touch with our Kenosha family attorney.

Recent Changes to Wisconsin Family Law

  • Wisconsin follows a no-fault divorce system, where the only legal ground for divorce is that the marriage is irretrievably broken, either stated under oath by both parties or demonstrated through a period of living apart for 12 months prior to filing for divorce.
  • In Wisconsin, a divorce cannot proceed to a final hearing until 120 days have passed since the service of the summons and petition, although this waiting period can be waived by the court under compelling circumstances.
  • Wisconsin's family law mandates a 50/50 division of property upon divorce, recognizing the state as a community property jurisdiction, but separate property acquired through specific means like inheritance, or gifts remains with the individual spouse.
