Kevin's firm handled setting up my will and trust recently. They took something that seemed intimidating and made it easy to understand. I've also referred a couple clients to Kevin - he's trustworthy, approachable and very fairly priced.
"I've used Kevin and his firm's services since 2011. He gave undivided attention to my cases, advised me on different options and..."
"Kevin was extremely professional, responsive and knowledgeable when I came to him for help. I would definitely recommend O'Flaherty Law!"

Child support is intended to make sure children get the financial support they need from both parents. In Illinois, support is usually calculated using the Income Shares Model, which takes into account the income of both parents, the time they spend with the child, and other factors like health insurance and childcare expenses. The guidelines are a starting point, but every family is unique. At O’Flaherty Law, we take the time to understand your goals and help you achieve a fair outcome, based upon the facts.

Yes . Illinois courts may modify child support when there is a substantial change in circumstances, such as a significant increase or decrease in either parent’s income, changes in parenting time, or changes in the child’s needs. The modification must be approved by the court to be effective.
It does. Illinois uses an Income Shares Model, which in many cases factors in parenting time. The support calculation might be different where one parent has most of the parenting time than where each parent spends a significant amount of time with the child.
For Elgin parents who are self-employed or have irregular earnings, determining income can be more complex. Courts can review tax returns, business records, financial statements and other evidence for the purpose of determining an appropriate income figure for purposes of calculating child support. A lawyer can help you to gather and present the information needed to make sure the calculation is correct.
